Wild Atlantic Way and Ballyvaughan

Ballyvaughan village is one of the discovery points in Co Clare along the Wild Atlantic Way, and is only a few minutes’ walk from Hazelwood Lodge. Voted one of the 10 best road trips in the world by Condé Nast Traveller, this beautiful picturesque small harbour village, overlooking Galway Bay and located off the N67 48 miles from Galway, has a 50m long pier and a working quay used by the boats that ply the bay.

The village is at the heart of world renowned The Burren limestone landscape area that surrounds this enchanting town, with its amazing history and archaeology, home to over 700 plants and considered to be one of Europe’s richest botanical areas where Alpine, Mediterranean and Arctic plants grow side by side.

But there is much more to this part of the world than just plants and history! Walking, cycling, rock climbing and a host of water sports such as surfing, kayaking and angling are just some of the activities available for your enjoyment. In the evening after an exhilarating day taking in the beauty of this special area, make sure to wander around Ballyvaughan village centre with its many restaurants and bars where you can indulge your passion for amazing Irish seafood, great wine, and traditional Irish music, catch up with the locals and fall in love with the West of Ireland way of life!
